"Ocean Polaroids" oil and PVA on paper-mounted panel, 8" x 7" 2011
My moment with Magritte, minus the floating derby hats. I always liked those paintings so much as a kid. Little puzzles and metaphor games. I like the space at work here, how the distance feels vague and believable at the same time. This painting is a surprisingly quick read, which I feel is mostly due to the iconic polaroid bordering. Ceci n'est pas une polaroid. Based off some photos that I took in North Carolina many years ago.
